Guidance for Christians towards the end of life
Facing death has never been easy, but in the modern world it has become a complex and confusing matter. Our hospitals offer treatments that may relieve symptoms, postpone death and improve quality of life. But they may also cause unpleasant side-effects, prolong the dying process, or even be used to hasten death. Deciding upon the best and most appropriate treatment in any particular situation requires good communication and a relationship of trust between clinical staff, the patient and their family.
This booklet offers practical and biblical guidance to Christians who are facing a life-threatening illness. Whether this illness affects you, a friend or a relative, Facing Serious Illness will help you to think through difficult decisions - as well as explaining some of the confusing medical and legal terms you may encounter. Guidance on navigating the complex legal system is provided, and a sample Note of Wishes is included to help those who are terminally ill outline the principles they would like to guide their treatment.
